At present the library holds 463.827 volumes, 600 current periodicals, more than 29,000 electronic journals and serials and ca. 44,000 online publications (31.12.2018) as well as a substantial collection of rare books and an outstanding collection of Jesuitica.

Admission

The library reading rooms are open to all persons of age. There is no charge for using the reading rooms or borrowing items.

To borrow items you have to register at the reception desk presenting either your personal ID or your passport with your official registration card. To take borrowed items home you have to have a permanent address in Germany.

Catalogues

The online catalogue lists all items except articles. It contains all holdings published after 1995 and a substantial number of earlier publications.

Holdings that have not yet been added to the online catalogue can be searched via two alphabetical card catalogues in the ground floor reading room.

Reading Rooms

About 80,000 volumes are systematically arranged on the three reading room floors which offer 100 seats. There are six PC terminals for catalogue, database and internet research, two photocopiers, one book scanner (photocopying cards can be purchased at the reception desk) and one microfiche-reader.
