Hermann-Josef Sieben SJ: The Oxford Guide to the Historical Reception of Augustine (= OGHRA). Ein Meilenstein der Forschung und eine Einladung zum Weiterforschen

Welche historische Nachwirkung hatte Augustinus, der bedeutendste lateinische Kirchenvater? Auf diese Frage antwortete schon die 1999 von A. D. Fitzgerald herausgegebene Enzyklopädie „Augustine through the Ages“. Eine umfassendere Antwort gibt jetzt „The Oxford Guide to the Historical Reception of Augustine“ (= OGHRA), an dessen Herstellung über 400 z. T. international bekannte Spezialisten aus 20 Ländern mitgearbeitet haben. Haupteditorin des um 600 Artikel enthaltenden Werkes ist die in Oxford tätige Professorin Karla Pollmann. Der Artikel stellt das Mammutprojekt vor und ergänzt es mit einem kleinen weiteren „Baustein“.

What has been the historical influence exercised by Augustine, the most influential of the Latin Church Fathers? An answer to this question, already given by the 1999 encyclopedia, Augustine through the Ages, published by A. D. Fitzgerald, is now given even more comprehensively by The Oxford Guide to the Historical Reception of Augustine (=

OGHRA) to which more than 400 – in part internationally known – specialists from 20 countries have contributed. The principal editor of these ca. 600 articles is the Oxford

Professor Karla Pollmann. The article describes this ammoth project and adds to it a small additional „building block.“
